Glyndebourne promises 300 years of opera in its 2015 season

World-renowned Glyndebourne opera house, located just four miles from Lewes, is planning a particularly broad repertoire for its 2015 season. The Glyndebourne Festival 2015 will span 300 years of operatic works, including the first professionally staged UK performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s tragic opera Poliuto.

Other debuts include the first staging at Glyndebourne of Handel’s oratorio Saul and Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio).

Robin Ticciati, Glyndebourne’s Music Director, said “My second year as Glyndebourne’s music director promises to be a fascinating one. Not only will I conduct Die Entführung aus dem Serail, my fifth Mozart opera for Glyndebourne and a piece I love dearly, I will also tackle the wondrous world of Ravel. Conducting two operas will enable me to work with both the London Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment again, something I consider an absolute privilege.”

Public booking opens on 9th March 2015; the Glyndebourne Festival 2015 runs from 21st May until 30th August 2015.
