Headstrong Club: Rethinking Transport

Friday 19 May @ 8:00pm - 10:00pm

£3

A Headstrong Club talk by Stephen Joseph OBE, executive director of the Campaign for Better Transport.

The original Headstrong Club was formed in the 18th century as a debating society. It met in the White Hart and was notable for counting democracy campaigner Thomas Paine as a member. In fact, Lewes historian Colin Brent notes that Paine often won the prize for “most obstinate haranguer”.

Today’s Headstrong Club was formed in January 1987 by David Powell and John May. It’s now based at the Elephant and Castle pub and generally meets once a month, with a summer break. There’s a charge of £3 for entry to meetings.
